Equine plasma with an IgG concentration ≥ 2800 mg/dl. For intravenous use in the treatment of Failure of Passive Transfer in the equine neonate at the rate of 20ml/kg body weight. The diagnosis of Failure of Passive Transfer should be established from a blood sample taken at least 18 hours after birth.
One 1000ml unit will increase a normal foal’s IgG by about 400 mg/dl. To assure an insurance requirement of 800 mg/dl we recommend administering two 1000ml units.
